Brazilian Soybeans 0.5% Planted vs. 1.5% Average

Soybean planting in Brazil is getting off to a slow start with 0.5% planted compared to 1.6% last year and 1.5% average according to Safras & Mercado. Central Brazil remains mostly hot and dry limiting planting to irrigated fields. Southern Brazil has received enough rainfall for farmers to get started on their soybean planting.
In Mato Grosso, farmers have planted 0.27% of their soybeans compared to 1.8% last year and 0.84% average, Only farmers with irrigation have started to plant their soybeans. The forecast is calling for only limited chances of rainfall in Mato Grosso starting next week and then building as October progresses.
The weather in southern Brazil has been more favorable for the start of soybean planting. For the last couple of weeks, rain has fallen in the states of Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and southern Mato Grosso do Sul. There is more rain in the forecast, especially for Rio Grande do Sul.
