The company Inpasa, which is the largest producer of corn ethanol in Brazil, announced an additional investment of R$ 1.2 billion for the construction of a new corn ethanol facility in the city of Luis Eduardo Magalhaes in the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil.

The new facility will have the capacity to process one million tons of grain annually into 460 million liters of ethanol, 230,000 tons of DDG's, and 23,000 tons of corn oil. The project will generate 2,500 construction jobs and 450 permanent jobs.

Upon completion of the facility in Bahia, Inpasa will have eight corn ethanol facilities. The company operates two corn ethanol facilities in Paraguay and three in Brazil at Sinop, Mato Grosso, Nova Mutum, Mato Grosso, and Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul. Two other facilities are under construction in Sidrolandia, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Balsas, Maranhao.

The production of corn ethanol continues to expand in Brazil and corn ethanol now accounts for approximately 20% of the ethanol production in Brazil.
